The Remnant

REMNANT: The part of a community or nation that remains after a dreadful judgment or devastating calamity, especially those who have escaped and remain to form the nucleus of a new community <Is. 10:20-23>. The survival of a righteous remnant rests solely on God's providential care for His Chosen People and His faithfulness to keep His COVENANT promises. Throughout history God has prepared a select few, a remnant, who were loyal and faithful to Him, to stand in the gap, to carry the torch where few dared to go. When the majority of people around them were content to live wicked, deceitful lives, these warriors were the ones who God used to prepare the way for the lost and wayward. They lit the path of righteousness so that a fallen people could find their way back to the LORD.

The following was taken from the May, 1998 issue of The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor (titled The Clinton Destruction of the U.S. Military).

Retired Army Gen. Albion Knight, Jr., and expert on the U.S. military situation vis-a-vis the Russians, Chinese, and other U.S. enemies, recently wrote the following estimate of the situation which is a good summary with which to close this article:

The "Enemy Situation" is Grim. (1) The Cold War is not over from the Russian perspective. They have kept their strategic nuclear power modern and fully operational. They are beginning to put the squeeze to us and calling in some chips. the last NATO deal was a total sellout by Clinton to the Russians - giving them a say in every NATO decision. (2) China - grows in modern military power every day - with the cost being paid by the United States by allowing them to loot our domestic market. They also hold us by the throat momentarily by owning over $100 billion of our debt and are buying more weekly. They have bought a government - ours. They have bought our business and manufacturing capability. We are blinded by the almighty dollar.

(3) The Middle East is about to explode once more, except this time it could become nuclear and chemical - with a serious oil embargo upon us

while we continue to lock up our own oil reserves. (4) Radical Islam grows stronger each day and is determined to destroy the Great Satan - the United States. They have the ability to do that, with not the least of their weapons being terrorism in the USA. (5) The Drug War continues as we permit our people to be weakened daily by this retaliation for the 1840s opium war. Our banks will not permit putting a stop to it, because they make a mint of money in the laundering process.

Then looking at our own resources: (1) Our Armed Forces have been weakened intentionally both from internal leadership demoralization and by the major slashes begun by Bush, finished by Clinton and agreed to by the Congress. They can no longer do the job of protecting the nation. (2) We have the most venal, avaricious, self-seeking government in the history of the nation. That includes all three branches of government. It is a growing monster which is increasingly hated by the general public - except for those on the dole - and they increase daily.

(3) Our business community no longer considers themselves to be American - they are global. Therefore, Boeing joins with China in a joint venture to build a bomber/missile plant - with the President saying "fine, go for it!" A major computer company sells China 47 super-computers - all key in nuclear weapons design

which are more than are owned by the Department of Defense - again the President saying, "fine, go for it!" These are some of the items included in Henry Hyde's letter to the Justice Department regarding articles of impeachment based upon national security. Have you ever seen Clinton say "no" to any Communists/Socialists? Absolutely not.

(4) What kind of people do we have? We are now reaping the dragon seeds sowed since the 1960s of an amoral culture raised by an intentionally dumbed down public educational system which is capable only of creating sheep. They were raised on relativism where there is no right or wrong or standards against which to measure criminal acts. (5) We have an international banks-controlled major news media working hand in glove to be their Goebbels disinformation agency - under no condition tell the people the truth. Keep them occupied with sports, sex and violence on TV. The government is fast working to gain control over the radio talk shows, ham radio and the internet in order to prevent another voice from being heard. I have been carefully studying the work of the Nazi German regime and I find many similarities between it and the Clinton government. They, too, worked hand in glove with industry and had a people who supported them - until it was too late.

I then examined what resources we might have to combat this growing monster and to restore some sense to the nation - before it is too late. About a 10% remnant of the population remember what America used to be and could be again. They are effectively shut up. There are only about 10% of the members of Congress who could be counted upon to stand firm - and they, too, are being pursued by big bucks to try to shut them up - with some success. The evangelical Christian community is at the heart of the remnant's strength - none of the mainline churches. The former are strong and are also training many young families. The home school movement is another growing source of strength. Which is why there is a growing concerted effort to put them under government control.

But the remnant have no voice. They have little money. They have heart, mind and soul. They have growing anger. (I am speaking of the 10% of the population). I then remembered that there was only a minority who supported and fought the American War of Independence - about one-third. But they had the benefit of the intellectual elite on their side. Our intellectual elite are, in the words of Pat Buchanan (spoken through Spiro Agnew), a bunch of "effete snobs."

There are several strands of strength out there: (1) the Jim Dobson-led family values movement; (23) Paul Weyrich's NET television network; (3) the anti-abortion movement; (4) the Christian evangelicals; (5) a few tough-minded Roman Catholics; (6) Pat Robertson's Christian Coalition. However, they are in the process of self-destructing because it is becoming apparent that Robertson is not as clean as he presents himself; (7) some parts of Perot's Reform Party - that part which objects to his running the show; (8) and, dangerously, the growing militia movements - who present a danger to all the other good elements.

Then there are areas where there can be help on specific issues, such as some part of AFL-CIO on the loss of jobs through the so-called "free trade" pushed by the internationalists. Also not to be ignored are a growing number of middle class conservative blacks - who are fighting to keep themselves from being literally dragged down by the barbarians. The bottom line of all this is that there is no public voice strong enough or wise enough, or astute enough PR-wise to raise the standard sufficiently high for others to see and to follow. The conservative movement (of which Howard Phillips is the best) are still caught up in their old milieu and way of doing things. It is hard for them to break out of the mold.

The final - and probably the most important part of my analysis

is following through n the implications of the claim that I (and a growing number of others) make that there is a close similarity between the conditions described in the Old Testament about the two Jewish nations, Israel and Judah, between 750 B.C. and 586 B.C. and those we see in America today. They were rotting from within at the same time they faced major external danger. Therefore, the Lord removed His protection from them, allowed them to be defeated, taken in exile and screened out to find the solid remnant of 10% which He used to re-build.

I was drawn into an intensive study of the Old Testament prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Amos, Hosea, Micah, Joel and Habakkuk. It was like reading today's newspaper they were so startlingly descriptive of today's conditions in America. From this study, I am strongly convinced that God has removed His protection from America and we shall very soon experience a series of sudden and violent crises which will shake us to our roots. [ED. (Don McAlvany) NOTE: ...not the least of which may be the Y2K crisis and the collapse of our stock market and financial system.] They will drive us to our knees - either in despair or prayer. I am afraid that there will be more of the despair than of the prayer. The solution given by God to those two nations was, "Stop doing the evil that you are doing and turn back to Me and I will heal your land. If not, you will have disaster on your hands!" That is our message, too.

Now my own attitude: from these analyses I was put into a mood of deep despair. Yet, the Bible study also reminded me that God uses a few strong men who know who they are, whose they are, and what they ought to do. I must also admit the words of Winston Churchill, "Never, Never, Never, Never Give up!" rang in my ear. Also the example of Howard Phillips who takes a realistic but optimistic view - We must be prepared in case God finds use for us in His plan. So I am not throwing in the towel. [End of Gen. [ED. NOTE: There are no simple answers to what is happening to our military. The American people placed Clinton in office twice. They tolerate his criminal and traitorous behavior because they have lost their moral and spiritual compass because they are well fed, prosperous, and their stock market is going up. Most have never served in the military - especially since the end of the draft in the '70s - when we went to and all volunteer military. They don't care if Clinton dismantles the U.S. military because they don't understand the military and because they smugly believe that America no longer has any enemies.

....It will get much worse before it gets better, but perhaps sometime in the next few years, the Lord will raise up that 10% remnant that General Knight referred to, to turn America away from its present path of destruction. Perhaps?] End MIA article.

When this country was in its infancy, our founding fathers were the remnant. They pledged their fortunes, their lives, and their sacred honor to defend the Christian foundations they held dear against an oppressive dictator. They were severely outnumbered and outgunned, but never overpowered. The hand of God moved them to act with wisdom for His glory, and the birth of the first Biblically founded nation. There has never been, in the history of the world, another nation built from its foundation upon Biblical principles.

But a republic depends upon a moral people to uphold it, otherwise it will collapse from within. What we are witnessing now is the collapse of our beloved country. A country founded by men on their knees, who were willing to die that you and I might have the freedoms we now enjoy. Instead of honoring the one who gave us, and entrusted to us, the many blessing we enjoy, many laugh at God, mock Him, and show utter contempt for Him.

With these freedoms and blessings come great responsibility. If a people can't accept and embrace that responsibility then they will lose the very freedoms and liberties that they take for granted. We, in this generation, have not earned these blessings, we have no rights, other than the right to stand up for what others have given their lives for. We don't deserve it, and we definitely do not want what we deserve.

Are you part of God's remnant? Do we once again have men in this country willing to pledge their fortunes, their sacred honor, and their very lives for America and the Christian principles she has been built upon? We must pray for discernment, courage, wisdom, honor, integrity, love and the hand of God to guide and protect us. We must once again give up the material for the spiritual, the finite for the infinite and ourselves for others. We must be ready and willing to stand, alone if need be, for God and His original intentions for this country. We must get off the fence and decide what we stand for. Will we be swayed by popular opinion or politically correctness? Or will we stand for righteousness, virtue, integrity and honor? The time has come for the Christian remnant in this country to speak up, to take a stand for our heritage and, more importantly, for our God.
